## Game questions

Quick answers about play and progress.

How do you play Minesweeper?

Reveal every square that does not contain a mine. Each number tells you how many of its eight neighboring squares contain mines. Use those clues to flag mines and reveal safe squares. You win by uncovering all safe squares; flagging every mine is optional.

What does “no guess” mean?

Every no-guess board passes a logical solver before play begins. Starting from your opening square, there is a path to completion using clues, mine counts and overlapping groups of squares. Turning No guess off starts a new random board. Switching between Island and Classic views preserves your current puzzle.

Is my first click always safe?

Yes. Both classic and no-guess games keep your first square and its surrounding neighbors free of mines. The daily challenge uses a fixed, safe opening so everyone starts in the same place.

Can I play Minesweeper on my phone?

Yes. Tap to reveal, hold a square to flag it, or use the Reveal / Flag switch under the board. Use + and − to adjust square size, then scroll larger islands in either direction. Top-down gives you an overhead view; Classic switches to the flat board without losing your game.

Are the daily puzzle and statistics saved?

Your active game, personal records and daily streak are saved in this browser on this device when storage is available. Daily puzzles reset at midnight UTC. Hints and replays are practice, so they do not set records or extend a daily streak. Clearing browser data removes your saved progress.

Is it really free, with no ads?

Yes. There are no ads, subscriptions or account requirements in this game. Open a board and start playing.
