Find the safe squares.
These two clues overlap. All remaining mines fit in the shared squares, so the highlighted squares are safe if your flags are correct.
Use the arrow keys to move between squares, Enter to reveal and F or Space to flag. The button below also plays the suggested move.
What you’re learning.
The lesson uses a fixed 5 × 5 board with four mines. First compare each clue with its covered neighbors. When every possible neighbor must be a mine, flag it. When all mines around a clue are flagged, reveal its other neighbors. Repeat these deductions until every safe square is open.
The tiny board uses the same deduction rules as the full game. A clue with all its mines accounted for makes its other neighbors safe. A clue that needs as many mines as it has unopened neighbors identifies every one of them as a mine.
The interactive Minesweeper tutorial highlights your next move. In the lesson, use the suggested-move button, click a golden safe square, or right-click a golden mine. There is no timer. Take as long as you like.
